We’re an informal group of local runners who have become friends through our shared experiences training, racing, and learning from each other. We don’t pay dues and we don’t hold strict standards. Just say you’re in, and meet us at the trail head.
Contact us if you’re interested in getting in to trail running, or just want to see what it’s all about.
Our founding members started the Rockhopper group nearly two decades ago. Trail running, and ultra running especially, was not really a thing back then, so the founding members banded together to share training experiences. To date, we’ve had more than 200 runners join us on runs at some time or another.
Although we have runners participating in events literally all around the world, most of our activity happens in the San Antonio, Texas area. The large race organizations around here are Tejas Trails, Trail Running Over Texas, Spectrum Racing, and Rogue Running, so we participate most often in those events.
We don’t just have a competitive scene we participate in — we have multiple fatass (self-hosted, low organization, no entry cost) events we host throughout the year. We believe in having a good time and not taking ourselves too seriously, so don’t miss out on these chances to get to know other local runners.
As one of the largest running groups in the area, we like to give back to the sport. One way is through volunteering. We usually have a strong presence at most local races, but you can find us, and join us, working big aid stations each year at Bandera in January, Rocky Raccoon in February, and Cactus Rose in October.
